Usually this happens in the spring time during snow melt, but because of the record rainfall over the last six weeks, I was lucky enough to catch a rare fall release. The dam was built by the Phelps Dodge corporation in 1946 and the spillways were added in 1949. It’s pretty cool to walk behind the falls and hear the roaring rush of water flowing over your head and down into into the Verde River. #arizonalif
