Sri Lanka may have exited the worst phase of the crisis, but we’re far from safe. Public debt still accounts for over 105% of GDP, leaving almost no room for the government or Central Bank to cushion the country from shocks, whether natural disasters, global turbulence, or domestic disruptions. Decades-old structural problems remain unresolved, meaning that any shock today can hit harder than ever before. Until debt is brought to a sustainable level and long delayed reforms take place, economic
